I am trying to import a MP3 audio file into a simulation presentation in Captivate (however it keeps reporting the following error ‘Unable to import audio file ensure that file type is MP3 or WAV and also ensure that the file is not damaged’. I have checked the audio file and it works and it is already in MP3 format – help please.

In Adobe Captivate 5, you simply choose Audio > Import to > Background and open the audio file (wav or mp3). The process of adding background audio hasn't changed much over the years.

Either way, the Import audio dialog box opens and you would browse to the appropriate audio file (Captivate allows you to import either WAV or MP3 file formats) and open the file.  If you would like to attach audio to an object on a slide, you would first select the object and choose  Audio > Import to > Object.

You can import  wav's  or  mp3's.  You can insert audio using any of the following methods: Object-Level Audio   Right-click any slide object and choose  Audio > Import to  or  Audio > Record to. However, I wouldn't use this technique for voiceover audio.

WAV file, but Captivate would not load it into the slide. WAV file was 687 MB, while the *.MP3 To work around it, I used Adobe Soundbooth CS4 to record the narration. I first tried saving the narration as a *.WAV I then went back to Soundbooth and saved it as an *.MP3 Captivate imported the new format without any problems.

So I saved it to a WAV file, which was quite large, and then saved that as an MP3 file which worked quite well -- a small compact file plus it kept both tracks. Then I tried the text to speech converter, but it reported that I did not have the files installed (I should have been given this option during the install process).
