Creativity Should Precede Technique

Breakthrough eLearning

Our daughter wants to be an animator. She will be going to university or college next year and has been checking out various computer animation and digital media programs. Interestingly, none of these programs really care about the applicant's computer programming skills. They are looking for talented and creative artists. They will help them hone these skills and then teach them how to channel them appropriately in a digital environment.

Flash Quiz Tools

Tony Karrer

Update June 2008 - added one free flash quiz tool based on a question I received. This tool is listed at the bottom. A client wanted to create online quizzes that would live inside of a larger site. They didn't really need tracking of user responses, instead they wanted them to be fun. I suggested a couple of tools, but then wondered if I had given them the best list of tools.

Found via Publishing Enterprise Content To Facebook - Alfresco - a content management system has provided hooks for it to be used to deliver content to Facebook users. Monkeys typing?

From the Coleface

Fair play to Richard Naish in November’s e.learning age – he has the poke to write about the impact of the “cult of the amateur” in an article provocatively called “Monkeys typing” (as in get enough monkeys typing for long enough and eventually Hamlet will be reproduced). Essentially he laments the trend of the diminishing status of the expert as user-generated content becomes more prevalent under the general trend that is Web 2.0.

As I read November’s Accountancy magazine, I was pleased to see Tracy Gordon, who I used to sit next to 10 years ago at Deloitte, has become famous enough to write an article about the latest Companies Act. I enjoyed that it was more apocalyptic than the usual articles about Financial Reporting…and there may be some significant impacts on accountancy firms, especially those in the mid tier.
