Video-Based eLearning Authoring Tools

I've been asked several times a similar question so I thought I would throw it out to see what readers here will recommend for doing basic video-based elearning authoring. The situation is that they have five, two-hour training videos (10 hours total). It's currently used as a watch and then answer these questions experience. The topic almost doesn't matter, but assume it's Safety Training.

However, it does give us the option of blogging within the system. Previously, we’ve used tools like Wikispaces and Edublogs, but we’ve had a number of requests for internal tools that don’t require a separate login and location.

Rationalizing a Netbook

I have been considering buying a netbook. They are very reasonable, but they have their limitations. Will it be worth buying? Here are the pluses and minuses. Plus - It's highly mobile. Instead of schlepping my laptop around this will be a lot easier. And it still has a large enough screen size to demo my courses. My courses are never larger than 800 x 600 resolution, which is the common denominator for my e-learning audience's screens.

I received an inquiry about the need for a low cost LMS solution and I've not had time to help this person with answers. I'm hoping folks can chime in with suggestions and resources. E-Learning Seen as Bright Spot in Training Industry

As recently announced by Bersin & Associates , in the United States, corporate learning and development (L&D) expenditures dropped by more than 11 % in 2008. It seems likely that the cuts are will continue in 2009. The organization continues to report that the spending has fallen from $1,202 per learner in 2007 to $1,075 per learner in 2008. Training staff resources are also dropping: Companies overall averaged 3.4 training staffers per 1,000 learners, down from 5.1 per 1,000 in 2007.
